Bahasa Indonesia & Bahasa Bali
Language is the deepest way into any culture — and in Bali, that means two languages worth learning. Bahasa Indonesia is the national language, spoken everywhere from Ubud's markets to Kuta's beaches. Bahasa Bali is older, more intimate, and still the language of temple ceremonies, family conversations, and everyday village life. At Pondok Pekak, you can learn either — or both.
Your teacher is Ibu Nyoman, who has been teaching at Pondok Pekak for over 20 years. She is patient, warm, and experienced with students of all levels — from complete beginners picking up their first greetings to more advanced learners working on conversational fluency. Lessons are entirely private, so the pace and content are shaped entirely around you.
Whether you want to order food confidently, bargain respectfully at the market, greet your Balinese hosts in their own language, or simply connect more meaningfully with the people you meet during your stay — a session or two with Ibu Nyoman will transform your experience of the island.
Classes are available as single one-hour sessions or in packages of 6 or 10 sessions for those who want to go deeper.
